Hi, I'm Alex, the founder of Bare Organic Tan. I got into organic airbrush tanning back in 2008 in LA, honestly before it was really a thing. I'd been working in the tanning bed industry and was seeing firsthand that people were getting skin cancer from them. Australia actually banned tanning beds entirely because of how dangerous they are. I looked at what existed for spray tans and it was all the same story: orange, smelly, sticky. I thought, surely we can do better than this. So I started working with a woman who had just started an airbrush tanning company with clean ingredients that actually looked and felt like a real tan.

I helped grow a brand in LA from Venice Beach to West Hollywood, and then life surprised me. I met my husband Abe, an Australian, at a dive bar in Venice. After two years of long distance, I made the crazy decision to leave LA and move to Melbourne. That's where Bare Organic Tan was born in late 2012. I worked with a new chemist to perfect the formula, and spent three years building the brand in Australia. This stuff is personal for our family too. Abe has had skin cancer on his nose and lip from too many years in the Australian sun. So keeping people out of the sun for tanning purposes and giving them a safer, better option? That's not just a business for us. It's something we really care about.

In 2017, we brought Bare Organic Tan to San Diego and honestly started from scratch. New city, no clients, just me and a second bedroom in our home. Some of our earliest clients literally came to our house to get tanned. I'll never forget that. We outgrew that spare room pretty quickly and found our home at Flower Hill Promenade in Del Mar, where the studio is today.

Since then, it's been all about one thing: giving every single person who walks through our doors the best organic airbrush tan with the cleanest ingredients that looks incredible and feels amazing. Over 10,000 clients and 170+ five-star reviews later, I still get excited every time someone sees their tan for the first time. That never gets old.
